Car Marker Comp..

Oh yah, I forgot to post my marker comp.... yah so pretty much my final design looks way better than this does.

The Ride.... Revamped

So I ran into a bunch of problems while making this poster. First of all my road looked terrible for a long time. It started out looking like a half circle and that didn't look to great, so I ended up making it into an S shape. It looked better. I then had to put perspective on the dashed lines so it appeared that the road was getting further away. now it looks like a road. Instead of having black line weight I ended up copy and pasting the existing road then offsetting it as to give the road some depth... much better. When I put the car in I had it breaking into the black box containing the text at the bottom to add even more depth. Any who, I ended up with a poster that held the same concept as my initial thumbnails, but in the end has a much better design and layout... in my opinion at least.

Update: I actually changed a few things on my actual print out now. I made the blacks richer by adding some CMY to them and I changed my font color to match the yellow lines on the road.

Chili Cook Off Design

In the design, the image of the pepper takes up most of the page using scale to it's advantage.  The first thing your eyes are drawn to is the title - starting in the left middle of the page.  The title and the body both wrap to the same shape as the image, even while the title overlaps into the image.  The image would just be floating there if the title didn't overlap it, creating some depth to the design.  With each element contoured to one another, it really brings the whole design together.  There is unity between the image and the text.  You can tell that it's a chili pepper and it works.  I like it.

Indie Poster (photoshop)

Right so this is my Indie poster that I made.  I initially didn't have that gray box there and I used a different type face.  after looking at everyone else's I decided that I needed a little more depth in my poster.  I also decided that I liked the idea of lining up the the V in the title with the image so I gave that a shot... then I tried to make the box line up as well.  I'm wasn't too sure whether or not i should change the size of the box, but in the end i decided it was fine where it was.  I move the contact info to the bottom of the page instead of keeping it with the rest of the body.  I used a clipping path using photoshop in order to import the image of the violin.

The Car

Well It's not as good as I want it to be yet but I used a lot of different tools in my car Illustrator project.  I used the gradient mesh a few times, and actually used it to form the initial shape of the car!  I also tried to use layering to my advantage and was able to cover up some slip ups with it.  I need to figure out how to make wheels - every time I attempted to recreate the ones on the original image I failed pretty hard, so I'll work on that over break perhaps.  Overall I thin it turned out pretty cool looking otherwise.

Monkey Business

So this was for one of the first photoshop assignments we had to do.  We were supposed to grab a few different images and put them together in one photoshop document.  My idea was a King Kong meets the PGA sort of thing.  I thought that this was funny.  I used the eraser tool to help feather the giant gorilla into  this links style golf course.  I think the because of the scale of the gorilla, this makes it a fun image. I threw in the golf bag for good measure

Illustrator Discover Ad

This is my illustrator recreation of the Discover ad assignment.  The reason I chose this for my portfolio is because I really liked my use of gradients and layering in illustrator.  I think the compass looks really cool with the gold like appearance it has and I tried to use both radial
and linear gradients on the sun in order to try and get a cool effect.  Originally I had no compound pat
hs but after learning what they were I decided to go back and give them another try.  This time I have a couple of different compound paths that I put in during the revisi
on.  I also had to close one of my pen tool shapes.
